Craigie is one of the four original Whitfords suburbs, created after the State rezoned this stretch of coastal land in 1969, and it filled out through the late seventies and eighties. Craigie Senior High opened in 1976. The Leisure Centre on Whitfords Avenue is still the landmark most people navigate by.
